The NFL announced today that the 2015 NFL schedule will be released tomorrow, Tuesday-April 21st, at 5 p.m. PST on the NFL Network. The schedule release is a guilty pleasure for many NFL fans. For me personally, I can now start making plans for attending home games and contemplating the visit to an opponent’s stadium. We will all be predicting the win/loss record of our team within minutes of analyzing the schedule. It’s going to be a great year.
More than likely, the Seahawks will kick off the season on the road because the Mariners are hosting home games on Sunday and Monday of Week #1. There’s a good chance their season debut will be against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.
There is also a good chance the Seahawks will be on the road in Week #4 because the Mariners are playing that Sunday at Safeco Field.
How many primetime games will the Seahawks appear in this year? And of those primetime games, how many will of them take place at Seahawks Stadium? Last year, the NFL held Seattle in contempt for dominating at home by only scheduling the defending Super Bowl champs one home primetime game to kickoff the season against the Green Bay Packers. There is no doubt in my mind that the NFL will continue this practice in 2015. I expect the Seahawks to host only one primetime game at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers
Will the 12s be eating turkey and watching Seahawks football? The Cowboys are one of the Seahawks road opponents this year and would be a great matchup on Thanksgiving. The Seahawks played the Cowboys on Thanksgiving in 2008. The Cowboys dominated winning the game 34 to 9. It would be gratifying to watch Seahawks players feasting upon turkey legs at mid-field on the Star logo during a postgame interview, reminiscent of last year against the Santa Clara 49ers
